Ushikubo Masayoshi is elevated to “Officer” of the Legion of Honor

Sanden Corporation today announced that Masayoshi Ushikubo, Chairman of the Board, was named the prestigious rank of “Officer” of the Legion of Honor, following the first recognition of “Chevalier” in 2000.


The French Minister for Defense, Mr. Jean-Yves Le Drian presented a medal to Ushikubo at the ceremony held at the French Embassy in Tokyo on March 14th, 2015.


Sanden Corporation established its factory in Titeniac, Bretagne in France, which manufactures compressors of air-conditioning system for vehicle in 1995. The factory has steadily increased its amount of production, and also conducts development of products for European market in cooperation with local leading automotive manufacturers. Sanden has been expanding its business areas including heat pump type hot water supply systems as well as opening a new office for promoting eco-friendly products business in Rennes, Bretagne in 2014.


Ushikubo also devoted himself to promote cultural exchange between the two countries as Chairman of L’ASSOCIATION FRANCO-JAPANISE de GUNMA. This honor serves as a sign of France’s appreciation for his long year dedication and contribution to the strengthening of the bilateral relationship.


About the Legion of Honor

The Highest honor French Republic bestow on an individual, created in 1802 by Napoleon Bonaparte. It is awarded by the President of the French Republic to soldiers and civilians including foreign (non-French) citizens who have made an outstanding contribution to economic and cultural area in the country.
