Environmental management

Sanden strives to keep the management cycle for the Group's environmental preservation activities (overall PDCA cycle) and the environmental management cycles of each ISO14001 certified business site.
By combining responses to environmental issues at the Sanden Group level with issues at each business site and location, Sanden empowers all of its personnel to participate in the promotion of environmental preservation activities.
In addition, based on the Environmental Charter and Medium-Term Basic Environmental Policy, which are based on our corporate philosophy, each group company sets its own goals, and each item is implemented in the environmental program at each site. Company-wide environmental audits (internal environmental auditing) are conducted several times a year to ensure that environmental preservation activities at each business site conform to Sanden’s policies and plans. The Environmental Department of the Administration Division evaluates the level of environmental activities by each business site on a scale of 1 to 5 in 14 categories, including “environmental management,” “business activities,” and “environmental performance.”

ISO14001 Certification

To realize sustained improvement in the level of its environmental management, the Sanden Group has been advancing with efforts to obtain such environmental management system certification as ISO14001 certification.
At the first of Dec. 2022, the Sanden Group had obtained environmental management system certifications for a total of 15 sites in Japan and overseas (certification rate of 94%).
In addition, we focus on training internal auditors for the purpose of maintaining a high level after acquisition of the certification. (Yattajima Plant: 30 auditors)
