　Sanden Huayu Automotive Air Conditioning Co., Ltd., a joint venture company between Sanden Holdings Corporation (Sanden) and Huayu Automotive Systems Company Co., Ltd. (Huayu Automotive) belonging to Shanghai Automotive Industry Corporation (SAIC) that has the largest market share in China and places Shanghai Volkswagen and SAIC-GM under its umbrella, completed its state-of-the-art ‘Huayu Sanden Heqing New Plant’ (New Plant) in Pudong New Area, Shanghai. The New Plant has a ground area of 116 thousand square meters and a total building area of 105 thousand square meters including the two-story north building and the south building. The total area of the ground and the building combined is the largest in the global Sanden group. The head office functions placed in Huangpu District and the manufacturing and development functions placed at the Shilong plant in Xuhui District are transferred and integrated at the New Plant. Annual production capacity will be 15 million units, which is also the largest in the global Sanden group.

　They started the introduction of new equipment in late 2017, completed transfer of the head office functions in March, 2018, and started the manufacturing and shipment of the main products, PX compressors, in April. In addition, they will start the production of the electric compressors in August this year.

　Quality and delivery of the products produced in the New Plant are controlled in an integrated manner by the unique quality control system and production control system, so that they will be successful in enhancement of their productivity and customer service.

　The opening ceremony for the New Plant was held on April 26th, with the attendance of the representatives from Sanden, Huayu Automotive, SAIC, Shanghai Volkswagen, SAIC-GM, local government officials, major suppliers, and other concerned parties.

We will start the production of our electric compressors at the New Plant with the state-of-the-art equipment and factory, so that we will be able to continue and deepen partnership with Huayu Sanden in the automotive industry. We resolve upon further growth in collaboration with Huayu Sanden.

I hope we all understand we have to seize a chance offered by development of the automotive using new energy and develop the core technologies for heat management upon starting the mass-production of heat pump systems. In addition, I hope we continue making our efforts to acquire a long term competitiveness through expansion of product lineup, product level enhancement utilizing IoT, and continuous improvement in efficiency, flexibility, and cost competitiveness of production.

　After ribbon-cutting, the management executives of Huayu Sanden and the parent companies drew an eye into daruma doll brought from Gunma Prefecture where Sanden began.

　Huayu Sanden was originally established as Shanghai Sanden Behr Automotive Air Conditioning Co., Ltd., a joint venture company between Sanden, SAIC, and Behr. After realigning joint venture relationship in 2015, the company name was changed to the current one.
　Huayu Sanden had continued its compressor production and development for the domestic customers in China at its Shilong plant, at which the space became too cramped as the production volume increased, and finally decided to move to the New Plant. The relocation of production and development facilities is currently underway and will be completed in 2019.
