Sanden Agrees to Accept Cup-Type Vending Machines Business from Toshiba Electric Appliances
March 7, 2011
-
Sanden Corporation has decided to accept the transfer of business concerning the development, design, sales, and servicing of cup-type vending machines from Toshiba Electric Appliances Co., Ltd., as of April 1, 2011.
-
Having progressively strengthened its operations in the cup-type vending machine field to meet consumer needs in Japan and overseas, Sanden is in agreement with the concept of reinforcing those operations with the cup-type vending machine technologies and know-how that Toshiba Electric Appliances has accumulated over many years. It has, therefore, agreed to accept the transfer of the cup-type vending machine operations of Toshiba Electric Appliances.
-
The scale of the European market for cup-type vending machines is comparable to that of the Japanese market for can/PET bottle vending machines. In 1988, Sanden acquired the Vendo Company, a venerable vending machine manufacturer with operations in the United States and Europe, and the cup-type vending machines of SandenVendo America, Inc., have been generating large business opportunities in the European market.
-
Going forward, plans call for integrating the cup-type vending machine technologies and know-how of Sanden and Toshiba Electric Appliances in a way that enables an even wider range of variant models than previously and ensures that Sanden can meet customers' requirements for the speedy provision of high-quality, highly reliable vending machines. In this way, the Company plans to progressively strengthen the expansion of its vending machine operations both in Japan and overseas.
