First in the Industry: Global Standard Model Glass-Fronted Vending Machine

December 17, 2008News Release

Sanden Corporation has achieved and released Glass-fronted Vending Machine; model GFV-J654A, as a global standard model in the Japanese market. This vending machine has the front door of glass that allow purchasers to have a full view of the products. The concept is to show all products and encourage excitements of purchase with friendly appearance. This is the first in the industry, and will be put into the global market soon.

Sanden is the only manufacturer who develops and manufactures vending machines across the four continents (Japan, Asia, the Americas and Europe), but different products have been developed and manufactured at each plant in the each continents according to its customer needs. This is the first time to have a team of representatives from each group company to develop a global standard model. The basic design work has been done in Japan, while the product release mechanism is handled globally. The cabinet and components will be developed and manufactured at each regional plant, thus allowing customer needs to be met down to an extremely fine level.

Constructional features include elimination of displaying product samples by the actual products, and the realization of a single specification. The product release mechanism is compatible with the diverse range of products sold globally and utilizes the fastest release technology available (patent pending).

The product visibility has been increased through bringing the products closer to the glass panel and eliminating the cool partition plate, making the vending machine similar to refrigerated showcases in convenience stores. The machine can handle up to 54 different types of products, including canned drinks, PET bottles and paper cartons of beverages. The products are speedily moved to the product dispenser, which has adopted universal design by being placed at a sufficient height to allow the purchaser to take their goods without bending down.

Regarding its environmental features, the use of LED lights for the panel illumination reduces electricity consumption, while the cassette-style cooler unit used has been designed with the 3Rs (Reuse, Reduce, Recycle) in mind.

Sanden will continue to increase its position in the global market through the full-scale expansion of globally standardized vending machines to the Americas, Europe and Asia.
